Objective
:
Making the student apt for correctly prescribing and applying treatments both for preventing disease and restoring health, according to the fundamental principles of the Ayurvedic Medicine in the Kerala tradition from the south of India.

This course is destined to: students from other health schools and systems who are interested in Complementary Medicine and its natural ways of preserving and enhancing health through an holistic approach of the human being. Massage therapists, aesthetics practioners, yoga adepts and general public who enjoys and appreciates the ancient eastern ideology.

Total number of hours: 866 class hours.

Prices: Enrolment fee: 50€ / Monthly fee: 120€ for non-associates, 100€ for ALBA associates (every month includes three sections of the full course). The students will receive notebooks and videos imported from Kerala, India; plus textbook in Portuguese.

Programme
Sections I to VI – Presential Programme: Introduction to Ayurvedic Medicine. Its beginning in the planície of the Ganges river up to the present days. The Tridosha Theory. Identifying the constitutional biotypes. The action of doshas on the metabolism. Identifying the doshas and their action on the human bioenergetic system, observation and questioning. Ayurvedic View of the health/disease relationship. Dinacharya – the daily routine as a means to maintain health. Ayurvedic Phisiology – Tissues and Systems, part 1 and 2. Ayurvedic Nutrition – the concept of Rasa, the use of ghee. Herbs and spices used in ordinary cooking and their therapeutic properties. 

Section I to VI – On-line Video-Conference Programme: Functions of the doshas, aggravation, organs, human body, main diseases, the process of become ill. Hipo and hyper functions – Upadhatus. Ayurvedic compounds. Decoction technique.

Section VII to XII – Presential Programme: The Vata Individual, main complaints in aggravation, methods for balancing Vata. Showing massage paths – Anuloma, Pratiloma and Abhyanga of Kerala. Specific treatments, Shirodara, preparation of medicated oils, Navarakizhi and Swedhana. The Pitta Individual, main complaints in aggravation, methods for balancing Pitta. Disease tendencies. The use of Lepas, medicated ghee, Elakizhi. The Kapha Individual, main complaints in aggravation, methods for balancing Kapha. Udwarthanan, Garshana, medicated baths.

Section VII to XII – On-line Video-Conference Programme: The Subdoshas, Comments on the Vata disease group according to Charaka Samhita / anti-vata herbs/ Subdoshas / Coments on the Pitta disease group according to Charaka Samhita / anti-Pitta herbs / Subdoshas / Coments on the Kapha disease group accord to Charaka Samhita / Preparing massala for Kapha / Pranayama

Section XIII to XVIII - Presential Programme: Specific Treatments for superficial application- Kati basti, Janu basti, Hridra basti, Netra Basti / Ayurvedic Detoxification / Comments on the 5 methods, benefíts and indications / Ayurvedic Aesthetics / Supervised Training

Section XIII to XVIII – On-line Video-Conference Programme: Organizing your therapeutic workplace / Basic detoxifying and tonifying recipes / Assignment on Clinical Case Studies

Section XIX to XXIV - Presential Programme: Classic Yoga and Ayurvedic Psychology. Yogatherapy. Ayurveda Training Certificate Vyayam - Ayurveda Maipayat. Tandava. Sound and Meditation. Final Exam with Training / Professional Training Certificate emmited by Associação Luso-Brasileira de Ayurvédica e Disciplinas Associadas (ALBA).

The students will receive notebooks with all matter in Portuguese and multimedia material for home study.
